Fontanellato and Soragna: two Castles in the lowerlands

Prezzo: 65.00

Tour half-day in minivan - Tuesday to Sunday

From the fertile plain to the verdant hills, the exploits and loves of some of the most illustrious and emphatic Italian dynasties including Bourbon, Farnese, Landi, Pallavicino, Sforza, Lupi, Visconti, Malaspina, Rossi, Sanvitale up to Maria Luigia and Napoleon.

The first stop of the itinerary takes us to the Rock Meli Wolves of Soragna, the beautiful and lavish residence of the Princes Meli Lupi who still live there today. Stunning rooms embellished with furniture and furnishings of the first Baroque, the Rock preserves fresh decorations and pictorial cycles of Nicola del Abbot, Cesare Baglione, Ferdinand and Francesco Galli Bibiena.

We continue through the Sanvitale Rock of Fontanellato, which stands enchantingly in the middle of the village surrounded by a large moat full of water: among its rooms contains one of the masterpieces of mannerism, the small room painted by Parmigianino in 1524 with the myth of Diana and Actaeon. The noble apartment of the Sanvitale and the only Optical Chamber in operation in Italy, inside which a system of mirrors reflects the image of the square in front of a screen, is still intact.
